ASM's Wellness Program

Purpose: To promote overall health and wellness among all individuals associated with ASM as well as in the community.

The Wellness Program will: Provide structured activities and events that foster physical activity, in addition to providing educational resources and encouragement to build and maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Activities include but are not limited to: Walking, Jumping Rope, Hula Hoops, Parachute Activities, Kickball, Dodge Ball, Aerobics, Dance and Overall Gross Motor Skills Development (i.e. throwing. rolling, kicking, jumping, hopping, etc.)

To accompany events, nutritional information sheets will be given out to educate individuals on healthy food choices.

Health and Wellness “Nuggets” will provide periodic encouragement to participate in regular exercise and make healthy food choices.

For added incentive, we are developing a rewards program to help keep us motivated! We will begin implementing this in the very near future!

Sports for Special Kids

We want to extend a huge thank you to NC Sports for Special Kids!! NC Sports for Special Kids is a local non-profit organization with the goal of building a recreational center in the triangle for special needs children. The Board of Directors is a group of people who want to give something to the community and who have themselves benefited by participating in athletics throughout their lives.

A Small Miracle, Inc. Raleigh was chosen as one of this year’s recipients of $600. The money will go towards helping more kids get involved in our Community Outing Program and our Wellness Program, both encourage kids with special needs to get active and be healthy. Their donation will help pay for children to get involved in activities including bowling outings, swimming outings, horseback riding, etc. For more information about NC Sports for Special Kids, visit their website at www.ncspecialkids.org.
