Recognizing that a motivated, well-trained team of habilitation technicians is the key to our agency's success, A Small Miracle is committed to offering our employees an excellent benefits plan and some of the highest habilitation technician wages in the state.
Rate of pay is calculated based on each employee's education and experience, and since we have a pay grid that we use to calculate the rate, employees are paid fairly and equitably.
Benefits available include group dental insurance, group short- and group long-term voluntary disability insurance, group life insurance, and an Individual Voluntary Life Insurance policy. These benefits are available to employees who have been in full-time status (30 hours or more per week) with the agency for 90 days. A Small Miracle pays a portion of the cost of group dental insurance for the employee, and the employee is eligible to add their spouse and/or children at an additional cost. The employee is responsible for the cost of voluntary disability insurance, if desired. A Small Miracle pays the full cost of a base group life insurance, and the employee is responsible for the cost of the individual voluntary life insurance that goes beyond the scope of the group life insurance policy.
A Small Miracle provides CPR/First Aid training, NCI-A, NCI-B, NC-mandated Core Competencies training and other training such as the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Verbal Behavior (VB) and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). We also have an Employee of the Month program to recognize outstanding performance on the job.
Habilitation technicians must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, a clean criminal background and experience working with individuals with special needs. Please be advised that during the interviewing/screening/hiring process we will run a criminal background check on you. Do not apply for a position with our agency if you have had a conviction or have a case pending for any of the following:
- Any violent crime
- Driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs
- Theft or embezzlement
- Burglary, housebreaking or larceny

We may also decline to hire an applicant who has a history of misdemeanors, reckless driving or a pattern of speeding. We want employees we can trust and who our service recipient families can trust in their homes and with their loved ones. NC General Statue 122C-80 requires us to conduct a criminal background check, and we will always err on the side of caution when considering a potential employee to work with one of our service recipients.
A Small Miracle is always accepting applications. If you meet the qualifications above and want to join a dynamic team of habilitation technicians, please download and complete an application, attach the required documents from the list on the first page of the application and mail it to the address of the office closest to where you would like to work.
